Tucked away by the Mississippi River in Baton Rouge, Carly, Justin, and I ran around while the rain came pouring down. I had been dreaming of a rainy, adventurous engagement session for so long, and they were all in. We ran, we laughed, and we embraced the chaos as it literally POURED on us. They were down for anything, and it made the entire experience unforgettable.
At one point, we even found a cornfield where we took shelter and captured some of the sweetest, most intimate portraits. Those quiet moments mixed with all the laughter made the session feel so genuine and full of life.
Their love story is just as sweet. Carly and Justin met through church and started spending more and more time together, quickly realizing how naturally they connected. They became best friends first, and after an eight-hour conversation while stargazing, they decided it was time to start dating. The rest, as they say, is history.
Editing their photos felt like reliving that joy all over again. Their love for each other radiates through every frame—it’s the kind of love you can’t help but feel when you’re around them.
Future couples, if you love adventure, I highly recommend planning your engagement session rain or shine. Some of the most fun, genuine, and memorable photos happen when things don’t go exactly as planned—and you’ll look back on the experience with so much fondness.

If you’re in Virginia, there are so many stunning locations that make the perfect backdrop—like Cole Mountain, Crabtree Falls, or even a local wedding venue such as The Market at Grelen.
