In the heart of Lexington, Virginia, they said “I do” at the top of a mountain at the most cozy wedding venue— House Mountain Inn. The beautiful couple, Casey and Dalton, went for the gorgeous fall and winter colors that really set the mood for their entire day. Tucked away in the trees, their family and friends shed tears at their union and filled themselves with joy to watch them become one.
Casey’s dress was one of the most gorgeous dresses I have seen at wedding. The dress by Ava Laurenne has the most perfect delicate sleeves that are just stunning.
The florals, done by Wedding By Vogue set the perfect mood for the overcast day. Bringing pops of color to the day as well as beautiful arrangements for the sweetheart table, they carefully thought out each detail and executed it perfectly.
Casey’s hair and makeup, done by Locks and Lashes was natural but elegant, suiting her complexion so beautifully.
Some of my favorite moments of the day were Casey’s first look with her father. The moments captured were so raw and tender and it felt like you could feel exactly how her dad felt.
These kind of weddings remind me that this isn’t just another wedding day as a photographer. I get the privilege to be let in to people’s actual, real lives. The bride’s parents watch their baby daughter grown up and getting married. Their son who they watched play with monster trucks and trains has found the love of his life. All of these moments I can feel when I capture a wedding day.
When I have this mindset, I come in no longer looking to manipulate the situation to get a certain photograph. I no longer interrupt precious moments. I sit, watch, and feel what they are feeling. Then I capture it on camera so they can relive it too.
I hope you love this day just I much as I did and you can feel the emotion of this day through the screen in just a fraction of the way it felt to be there.
